Work at a Ski Area
Ski Rental Shop Technician
Rental shop technicians represent the entire line of rental equipment at the resort, providing selection and advice about guest rentals. Usually certified for binding installation and adjustment, rental technicians properly fit children and adults with the proper ski and snowboard equipment in conjunction with the advice of professional ski and snowboard instructors.
Rental shop technicians are considered the "industry experts" - the people even the pros go to for current information about what's hot and what's not in equipment. And, in addition to learning all about ski and snowboard equipment, rental shop technicians must be experts in reading the public and their wishes. At times, rental shop technicians must deal with challenging customers and be able to defuse uncomfortable situations in order to insure that they leave the resort happy.
Ski and snowboard tuning technicians repair, sharpen and maintain the running surfaces and edges on skis and snowboards to insure the safe operation of guests' equipment and must know about the finer points of ski and snowboard equipment as it pertains to how they perform.
Many ski and snowboard shops send their senior technicians to advanced training and product review seminars each year before the season begins. Technicians are required to learn about the similarities and dissimilarities of each model of ski or snowboard, what conditions it was designed for and how to make adjustments to insure a great skiing or riding experience for the customer.
Positions are available through the resort or other retail facilities. Shifts are available for either day or night operations.
